Argentum continues its effort to stay connected and involved with the community of Los Angeles.
CAMP LAUREL
Argentum Photo Lab is proud to support Camp Laurel, a summer camp for children and teens living with HIV/AIDS.
Currently there are over 25,000 children in the United States with HIV and AIDS and over 600 recorded children in Los Angeles County alone. For the first time, children realize that they are not alone in their fight against AIDS. Camp Laurel uses trained leadership and the resources of the natural surrounding to contribute to each camper's mental, social and spiritual growth. The first camp of our kind in Southern California, Camp Laurel is free to all children across the country aged 6-16. The existence of Camp Laurel depends on generous donations from foundations, corporations and private individuals. If you would like to get involved or make a donation to the camp, please visit their website www.camplaurel.org or stop by Argentum for more information on how to get involved.
The Lazarus Effect
During the second half of 2005, Mathieu Young lived with a community in Western Kenya. His intention was to make a documentary about the effect of HIV/AIDS, but when he saw such need he was inspired to help. He solicited funds from friends and family via the internet, and used them to help the community leaders set up a series of income generating activities that fund a small health and education center. The film is currently in post-production. For more details, visit thelazaruseffect.org
